Adventure travel under ₹1000
The Beginning
It was the late night on 12th March. Everyone was busy trying to grasp the concepts of Physics for the Mid Semester exam which was going to be held on the next day from 17:15-18:45.
Boredom breeds arbitrary desires. Sometimes you end up acting on them.
After few hours of “trying” to study, came the time when students are fed up and start making plans to somehow get out of the misery. We all know deep within our hearts that none of is actually gonna come true but still it feels good to conjure up the fantasy. Someone out of the group suggested to go to some place next weekend. Someone said let’s go to Mussoorie. And everyone started coming up with ideas. It was then decided that we’ll leave for Rishikesh just after tomorrow’s exam. Hmm..daring idea of travel with no plans only means LOADS OF FUN!
So just after the exam, 8 of us left for Ghaziabad and bought the tickets for general class of Mussoorie Express(14041). We boarded the train at 23:00 hours and tried to settle down in any place we could. After 7 hours of trying to get some sleep, we reached Haridwar.
Now it was the time for bus journey. Bus journey with friends..hmm..as you can imagine..
Around half an hour in bus and we were in Rishikesh.
One can easily find cheap places to stay in Rishikesh. But since it was a peak time, most of the hotels were full. We were lucky enough to crash at Hotel Neelkanth in the heart of the city at ₹450 per room.
Day Begins
We slept for 2-3 hours after a tiring night train journey. We were gushing with enthusiasm when we woke up 12 noon and left for Ram Jhula. We got a good deal for rafting package for ₹300 per person. It would include Rafting, Body Surfing and Cliff Jumping. Next few hours were going to be the best part of the trip. We had purchased the Rafting package for 18kms.
So yes, you have to paddle the raft. If you all can raft in unison then you would be able to experience the best of the rapids. There is a maggi point in between which is meant for Cliff Jumping. Though it is a small cliff, but the thrill is real!!
They also allow you to get into water and try body surfing.
Peaceful Evening
After a complete day of exhaustion and fun, we spent the evening at the banks of Ganges. It was time to be in peace. Time for soul-searching.
Everyone dozed off while discussing the days events.
Sunday Funky Morning
We had decided to leave at 15:00 from Haridwar by the Haridwar-Ahemdabad Mail(19032). So we thought of going for trekking early morning.
As soon as we had reached the trekking spot, it started to rain. So we had to cancel those plans and leave for Haridwar at 11:00 itself. We spent the rest of the time at Har Ki Pauri.
We had lunch at Pandit Ji Poori wala and left for University.
We left the place with a thousand memories in our hearts.
And before I finish, I should say its a must do for everyone ! Its a brilliant experience, sure to leave you exhilarating and wanting for more.
